Smart, sassy, and social, Amanda was raised in Oregon but spent a year of her childhood living in Cancun. She loves to travel and has been all over Mexico, Canada, and the west coast. She loves new car smell, the number 42, and sushi. Her favorite quote is, "Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing." She lives in the moment and brings her spunky personality to work every day.
Amy moved to Oregon from California in the fifth grade, but felt like a true Oregonian when she came to Portland for college. She loves participating in citywide bike rides with her dad, many of which involve dressing up in funny costumes. She recently sported dog ears and a nose in the Tour de Lab, and dressed as a bee in the Worst Day of the Year Ride, held on Valentine’s Day, “cuz love stings!” Amy is an avid painter, and her favorite things include her friends, family, and cat Harvey. She is very interested in America’s health, and her goal is to become pediatric nurse. Her dedication to health shows--Amy’s upbeat, enthusiastic attitude makes callers and coworkers feel happy and healthy!
Ask anyone at Ruby® Receptionists who Tasia is, and they will tell you she is the sweet girl who can do an uncanny imitation of a cat. When not practicing her animal noises, she is answering your calls and blowing your mind with her receptionist skills. During her breaks, Tasia can usually be found devouring a book, usually Stephen King, or practicing yoga. She also, like so many of us, has an insatiable love of coffee, which is pretty much a job requirement. Originally from Wheatridge, Colorado, she has slipped seamlessly into the Portland art scene with her painting. There are no two Tasias!
Born on the Oregon Coast, Annie actually came to us by way of San Francisco, and before that, New York State where she attended Bard College. Annie is perfect for Ruby® Receptionists because she loves laughing -- something we like to do around here, talking to people from around the country, and being incredibly creative. In her spare time Annie works on her clothing store, makes videos, sings, dances, writes, and is an all around amazing person. We are lucky to have her as part of the team.
Born in Barrow, Alaska, the fabulous Brianna came to Portland via Washington. She loves hanging out with her nieces and nephews, foggy mornings, reading and writing, people watching in downtown Portland, and find awesome indie coffee shops. She aspires to get her Master of Science in finance and travel to Europe and Japan. We truly appreciate all that Brianna brings to Ruby®, and we're sure your callers will too!
Ellen joins the Ruby team from eclectic Eugene, Oregon. She’s been lucky enough to step foot in China, Guam, and Canada, and hopes to teach English overseas and get a taste of world culture. Ellen would also like to continue her studies in Environmental Economics by returning to school for a masters in Natural Resource Management, because, as she says, “I want to make my childhood hero, Smokey the Bear, proud.” For fun, she likes to spend time with friends, cook, watch standup comedy, and do anything that involves sunshine. She loves a good sense of humor, and it shows—she knows how to make callers smile!
If you’re looking for a pick-me-up, look no further than Emily C. This Ruby’s effervescence is unstoppable! Emily is a native of Newberg, Oregon, and she enjoys a variety of compelling activities: singing, writing poetry, beadmaking, and women’s outreach, to name a few. Emily plans to pursue a career as a medical billing and coding specialist, and would like to travel to exotic places. She loves dancing, hip-hop and R&B music, and visiting the beach. We are delighted to see her smile every day, and we know her smile radiates through every call she answers!
Hilary hails from Michigan, or "America's high-five" as she calls it. She loves writing short stories, inventing recipes (she's compiling a cookbook!), sewing little monsters out of felt, and exploring Portland. Hilary hopes to teach kindergarten one day, but her back-up plan is to open a kids-themed bakery. We know she'll shine at either, with her warm, friendly personality, and we're so glad she's part of the Ruby® team. Here's to Hilary!
Originally from Tacoma, Washington, Holly S. moved to Portland from Bellingham in November. She's pretty sure the Great Blue Heron is her spirit animal, though if it weren't the heron it would be a dinosaur. Holly is drawn to the great outdoors - mountains and swimming holes are two of her favorite places to be. She even has a degree in environmental studies. She's also been known to burst out in song and dance at random intervals.
Holly T. comes to us from Plano, TX, near Dallas. She dabbles in various crafts, including sewing, knitting, crocheting, and spinning on an antique wheel. She's also nearly impossible to dislodge from an inner tube being pulled behind a boat. Dogmar and Bigwig, Holly's dog and rabbit, are her cuddly sidekicks at home.
Who’s got talent? Jami, that’s who! This Portland native is an avid singer and athlete. Jami’s career goal is to sing, and she plans to win American Idol in the process. In addition to her amazing vocals, Jami was a gymnast for 14 years. She loves spending time with friends and family, learning new recipes, and playing with her puppy. Jami also has an amazing knack for making callers and coworkers smile. Star quality, anyone? We certainly think so! Jami, you have our vote!
Although she’s moved a lot throughout her life, Kaci she is one of the many fabulous Rubys to have been born in Oregon. She loves to travel, and would like to go to Europe and South America. Eventually, Kaci wants to visit every continent at least once. She enjoys reading, going to movies, and being social. Kaci used to speak Spanish regularly, and hopes to brush up on her Spanish speaking skills--after all, Spain or Columbia might be her next vacation destination! Wherever her adventures take her, we hope Kaci doesn’t stray too far from her Oregon roots and the Ruby crew.
In addition to being an amazing receptionist, Kate is interested in finding ways for people to live sustainably while being economically and ecologically efficient. She wants to help clean up our oceans, and decrease our dependency on plastic and oil. Naturally, Kate is a member of Ruby’s Green Team—she’s a co-leader of the group, in fact! Kate joins Ruby from Tucson, Arizona. She likes trying new restaurants, listening to music, taking walks in the sunshine, and generally enjoying the good things in life. We count her amazing attitude as one of those good things in life, and we feel so lucky to have her as part of our team. Thank you for all you do to keep us green and happy, Kate!
Oregon native Katy is originally from nearby Salem, but has called Portland home for almost 15 years. Katy collects vintage furniture and art, and most weekends you'll find her digging for treasures at garage sales, antique stores, and thrift stores. She loves traveling, and has a long list of places she'd like to visit. Her first travel goal is to explore the United States, because "there is so much diversity of culture and landscape here." Bright and eclectic, we know she'll spread cheer wherever she goes. No matter how far she travels, Katy will always have a home here at Ruby®!
Kim comes to Ruby from Anchorage, Alaska. Like many Rubys, she likes travel and adventure. She’s lived in France, been hot air ballooning in Turkey, and stayed in a cave hotel. Kim loves architecture and interior design, and her ultimate dream would be to have her own show on HGTV. Creative Kim also makes and sells her own jewelry. She loves reading, spending time in coffee shops, and watching bad reality T.V. online. It’s no surprise that this smart, multi-talented Ruby is an amazing receptionist!
Raised in Milwaukee, but born in Fond du lac, Wisconsin (Kirsten provided a handy pronunciation guide, "Fondle-ack... it's French."), Kirsten arrived in Portland about two years ago. An aspiring writer, Kirsten became a Northwesterner after a cross country drive with her husband, books, musical instruments, and cats. Shortly after her journey she found her way to Ruby® where she loves getting to know our clients and eating the cupcakes we often have here. We will continue to supply the cupcakes, as long as Kirsten continues to be amazing.
Kris is a simple country girl who comes to Ruby®via rural Indiana, which goes a long way toward explaining her sweet demeanor and impeccable manners! She is an avid sci-fi reader, self-proclaimed nerd, and crafter extraordinaire! She sports an impressive collection of hand-knit socks, and perhaps most impressively, has remained an undefeated Trivial Pursuit champion for over 10 years! Kris is an invaluable asset to Ruby®, appreciated by clients and coworkers alike.
Kristen is a Texas transplant with a green thumb and an ambition to match: she hopes to someday work as an urban planner, developing policy that protects agricultural land, encourages urban farming, and expands community garden space. In her spare time, Kristen likes to garden, sew, and putter around Portland. She loves working at Ruby® for the wealth of interesting names we receptionists encounter each day. We Rubies love Kristen for her strong work ethic and her brilliant sense of humor--and we suspect our clients love her for exactly the same reasons.
French-speaking smarty pants Lauren A. came to us from Erie, Pennsylvania and is currently working toward her dream of becoming a librarian. Meanwhile, she loves going on adventures, hanging out with her lovely friends and her friendly cat Norman, and providing your callers with good old fashioned, top-notch Ruby® service.
Fun-loving and energetic, Portland native Lauren O. loves nothing more than spontaneous day trips. Her favorite spots include Oregon's Bagby Hot Springs, Bald Peak, and the beautiful and historic home of the Klamath Indians, Klamath Falls. In the summer you can find her doing anything on or near the water, like taking a drive up the scenic Oregon Coast. Lauren plans on one day becoming a surgical technician and a homeowner. Until then, she will be providing your callers with unbeatable customer service in true Ruby® style.
LeAnna is a Northwest girl, having lived in Montana, Idaho, and several spots in Oregon. We're happy she landed in Portland, because Ruby® wouldn't be the same without her. She's an adventurer, a golfer, a dessert lover, and a big fan of the written word. LeAnna recently applied to the Masters of Book Publishing program at Portland State, and hopes to one day get another degree in creative writing or psychology. She claims she's klutzy, but we've seen nothing but grace from her at Ruby®, in person and over the phone. We're sure you'll notice the same!
Lisa is Portlander, through and through. She was born here, grew up here, and was even once honored as a Rose Festival Princess as part of Portland’s annual Rose Festival. Lisa loves the Oregon outdoors, and enjoys hiking with her dogs and taking road trips with her husband. This hardworking Ruby also dedicates much of her time to building her own business. Her niece and nephew are a few of her favorite people, and she adores being an aunt. Lisa’s sparkling personality makes Ruby a brighter place. She is a true Pacific Northwest Gem!
In between all the hours she puts in at Ruby®, Monica D. somehow finds the time and energy to keep up a second full-time job: Shower Singer. Hey, a girl's gotta practice when she can! Monica loves musical theater, playing with her cats, and shopping for the uniquely fabulous clothing that so often makes her the envy of her coworkers. In her early years, Monica lived in California and Portugal, but she's been happily settled in Portland for most of her life. That's good news for us, because this Ruby® is a true asset to our team! Patient, sweet, and endlessly good-natured, Monica makes every caller feel like a VIP.
Though she was born in California, Monica K. has spent most of her life in Oregon, where the rainy winter days provide the perfect excuse to curl up with a good mystery novel. Although Monica loves to read, she rarely finds a spare moment to indulge; most of her free time is filled by her family, which she describes as a talented bunch of actors, writers, inventors, and athletes. Talent must run in the family...just wait until you hear Monica on the phone!
Despite its perennial popularity, the world of macaroni art has been long in its search for a true rising star. Ladies and gentlemen, that search is over. Armed with paint, glitter, and humble little noodles, Sara Lee creates art that is truly fascinating. A pink pasta phone? Check. A light-up macaroni movie theatre? Done. A noodle-based road rage diorama? She's working on it. This gal is a Ruby®, through and through; she's sweet, she's smart, and she's got a sense of humor that can brighten the foggiest of Portland days. It's true what they say: Nobody doesn't like Sara Lee!
Serenity lives up to her name. Calm and confident, she handles every call she takes with a measure of patience that has been known to soothe even the grouchiest of callers. With 700 unique clients to impress, a Ruby® mind is never idle. This is perfect for Serenity; she's one smart lady, and her love of learning makes every day at work an opportunity to pick up something new. An Oregon native, Serenity spends her free time nurturing her artistic side. If she could tear herself away from this mossy-green paradise we call Portland, she'd like to visit the Great Barrier Reef.
Stacey can usually be found at her desk knitting or crocheting between calls. She's usually wearing something retro-fashionable, with a ribbon or a snood in her dark hair. Her two nephews are her favorite people to hang out with on the weekends. Every call she takes is handled with friendliness, compassion and grace. Stacey and her love for coffee fit in well at Ruby®, and we wouldn't give her up for the world!
An Arizona girl at heart, Stefani likes a good beer and having a good laugh at a bad joke. She describes herself as a nerd who knows way too much useless trivia. Like many other Rubys, she's an avid fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She's also a big fan of penguins. Stefani's dream job would be as a "super cool drummer chick," but we'll keep her as a super cool receptionist for now!
Suzanne is our artsy Chicago transplant. She enjoys metal work and graphic design, and plans to go to art school in the future. Suzanne loves books, fundraisers, and spending time with her friends and family. We love her infectious laugh and joyful attitude. At Ruby®, we know we can count on Suzanne to give a smile and make us smile in return. We cherish her good nature, and we know every caller she speaks with feels the same way.
