Ruby is a Top 3 Medium-Sized Business to Work for the 3rd Year in a Row!

“’Coming to work is like being hugged by 100 wonderful people all at once!’ said one employee…Asked how the company could improve, workers are hard pressed. ‘Water slides!’ suggests one.” There could only be one company with survey responses like these.

Ruby Receptionists is the #3 Best Medium-Sized Company to Work for in Oregon for 2013

Founder & CEO Jill Nelson led 80 overjoyed Rubys to rush the stage to collect our Oregon Business “Best Company to Work for in Oregon” award. Our fourth consecutive year on the list, and our third time in the top three in the medium business category, we couldn’t be happier! The list was generated from over 13,000 employee surveys, supplemented by a benefits report from each company, and not only are we #3 this year, Ruby ranked #1 in the category of Benefits and Compensation!

We may not have waterslides, but we did add new benefits like our “Five at Five” paid sabbatical. Ruby also grew significantly in the past year, earning the coveted Portland Business Journal Lighthouse Award for five straight years on the “Fastest Growing Companies” list, and it’s because of our unique company culture that Ruby is thriving!

We’d like to thank our fantastic clients and vendors – we love working with you, and getting to connect with you every day makes Ruby a great place to come to work!

Ruby Named #3 on the “100 Best Companies to Work For” List!

Last night, a group of 50 of our virtual receptionists and staff took the Oregon Convention Center by storm to celebrate at the Oregon Business magazine’s “100 Best Companies to Work For in Oregon” awards dinner. It was Ruby’s third year to make the list and as always, we brought our Ruby enthusiasm to the party!
50 excited Rubys stormed the stage with excitment to accept the award!

Our team is beaming with pride after our win!

This award is one that we really hold near and dear to our hearts, because it is in large part based on a survey of our employees. It really means the world to us to know that we are achieving the mission of our Core Values and creating a happy work environment for our team. We are honored to learn we were #2 in the categories of Management and Communications and Decision-Making and Trust. It’s definitely a testament to the fabulous managers and leadership here at Ruby, and we are lucky to have them on our team!

We are always striving to be better for our employees. We stepped up our game this year with some awesome new benefits. We added a six-week paid maternity and paternity leave, our “Five at Five” paid sabbatical program, increased the amount of paid time off for our staff (by a whole extra week!), and expanded our wellness program. So, what’s next for the Ruby team? The sky is the limit!

Ruby Makes Oregon Business’ 2012 List of “Best Companies to Work For!”

We’re thrilled that we’ve made Oregon Business magazine’s list of “100 Best Companies to Work for in Oregon” for 2102!  Since one of our Core Values is Fostering Happiness and the ranking is dependent on employee surveys, this is a particularly meaningful award for us.

This is our third year to have made the list, and last year we were overjoyed to be named the #2 “Best Company to Work For” in the medium-sized business category. In fact, almost forty Rubys attended, and we gave a raucous roar when our name was announced; our virtual receptionists may have soft, friendly voices when answering phones but we also know how to cheer with the best of them!

100 Best Companies to Work For 2011We were also named #1 in Performance Management, #2 in Career Development and Training, and #3 in Benefits and Compensation among medium-sized businesses. Our Star Service & Receptionist Cultivators are extremely committed to their receptionist teams (appropriately named the “Riveting,” “Radiant,” and most recently the “Gems”), and it felt great to recognize all their hard work.

Feel free to check out our Facebook album for pictures from last year’s awards dinner. We can’t wait to attend Oregon Business’s annual event in March and find out where we rank for 2012!

Ruby’s the Portland Business Journal‘s 38th “Fastest Growing Company!”

Ruby Founder/CEO Jill Nelson

Ruby Founder/CEO Jill Nelson accepting the award!

The Ruby® Receptionists team was out in full force to attend the Portland Business Journal‘s “100 Fastest Growing Private Companies” event last night. We were thrilled to learn that our virtual receptionist service made #38 on the list! This is our fourth consecutive year making the list, and we’ve actually jumped up seven spots since last year!

This year’s theme was outer space, and we had a blast indeed! There was astronaut ice cream, star-shaped cake pops, and inflatable space ships (one of which we were lucky enough to get as a souvenir). The night even included a raffle to win cool prizes — and our very own Director of Culture Sarah Sackett won a color nook from event sponsor Comcast Business Class!

We especially enjoyed being able to meet a few of our clients whom we answer phones for and put a face to the name! Our virtual receptionist team also got a chance to get to know some of our fellow Entrepreneurs’ Organization members. Congratulations to all of the EO and EO Accelerator members who made the list: Kinco Glove, Anvil Media, Capacity Commercial Group, Mortgage Trust, ISITE Design (who won a 5 year Lighthouse Award!), Inavero, and Spot Color Studio!

We’d like to extend a huge thank you to our clients for supporting us and being such outspoken evangelists for our virtual receptionist service! And we’d also like to thank our virtual receptionist team for providing such exceptional service and Creating Community wherever you go!

Here are a few photos from the night:

Ruby Takes #35 Spot on “100 Best Green Companies” List!

100 Best Green Companies to Work

The Green Team & Ruby Founder/CEO Jill Nelson (center) checking out the "Green" article

Yesterday, several Rubys, including our Green Team, took the local streetcar down to the Portland Art Museum to attend Oregon Business magazine’s annual “100 Best Green Companies to Work for in Oregon” luncheon. We were thrilled that our virtual receptionist service made the list for the second year in a row, and we’re honored that Ruby® placed #35 on this year’s list!

The event was a great way to inspire our team, and anecdotes from top 10 winners and the keynote speaker, Dennis Wilde with Gerding Edlen Development, sparked new ideas about what we can do next to make our company even more sustainable. Many of their stories included mentions of how their receptionists took going green to new levels. It made me think, with all of our virtual receptionists, who knows where we can go from here?!

We’d also like to give a shout out to Ater Wynne, our upstairs neighbor in the LEED certified Lovejoy building, and our neighbor on the “Green” list, coming in at #34! Congratulations as well to Sokol Blosser Winery who earned the #5 spot on the list and whom we met on the “100 Best Companies to Work For” ski trip!

Thank you to all of our virtual receptionists and staff for all your hard work in making Ruby green! Whether it’s printing double-sided, recycling, participating in a green clothing swap, taking advantage of our Alternative Transportation program, or making DIY notepads, we appreciate all of your green efforts!

Ruby Named One of the “100 Fastest Growing Private Companies!” for Fourth Year!

It’s been quite an exciting year for Ruby® so far — and it’s only May! We’ve added many new features to our top-notch virtual receptionist service, been named one of the “100 Best Companies to Work For,” and one of the “100 Best Green Companies to Work For,” just to name a few. To add to the good times, we are excited to announce that we’ve once again made Portland Business Journal‘s list of “100 Fastest Growing Private Companies!”

This is our fourth straight year making the list, and we’d like to extend a huge thank you to all of our fabulous clients, vendors, and employees for making this possible! It’s because of you that we’re able to provide outstanding service to even more businesses and help them grow in turn!

Our virtual receptionist team always has a ton of fun at the awards reception, and we can’t wait to find out where we rank at the event on June 23rd!

Ruby Makes Oregon Business’ List of the “100 Best Green Companies to Work For!”

Ruby named one of the "100 Best Green Companies to Work For"Ruby® Receptionists has made Oregon Business magazine’s list of the “100 Best Green Companies to Work For in Oregon” for the second year in a row! Last year, our choice of wind energy, encouragement of recyling, and notepad-making propelled us to #19 on the list

We are really excited to see where we rank this year, especially after several of our virtual receptionists and staff members started Ruby’s very own Green Team. These volunteers (or shall I say, Planeteers?) meet once a month to brainstorm additional green business practices and to educate their peers on more ways to be sustainable.

We’ll find out where we rank at the “100 Best Green Companies” luncheon in May, and we’ll keep you posted!
